Patrol Division
The Patrol Division is the largest and most visible division of the Loves Park Police Department, providing 24-hour police services to residents, businesses, and visitors throughout the City of Loves Park. Staffed by 24 Officers and Sergeants, the division serves as the first point of contact for most calls for service and plays a critical role in maintaining the safety and quality of life within the community.
Patrol officers respond to a wide variety of incidents, including emergency and non-emergency calls, traffic crashes, suspicious activity, disturbances, thefts, domestic incidents, medical emergencies, and requests for assistance. In addition to responding to calls, officers conduct proactive patrols throughout neighborhoods, business districts, parks, and school zones to deter crime and increase public safety.
The Patrol Division is often the starting point for criminal investigations. Statistics have shown that more than 90 percent of cases ultimately closed by arrest begin with information gathered by a patrol officer during an initial response or investigation. Through careful observation, evidence collection, witness interviews, and collaboration with specialized units, patrol officers help lay the foundation for successful case resolution.
Beyond enforcement, Patrol Division personnel are committed to building positive relationships with the community. Officers regularly engage with residents, businesses, and community organizations while emphasizing professionalism, fairness, and respect. Their visible presence helps foster trust, prevent crime, and provide reassurance that help is available whenever it is needed.
As the backbone of the Loves Park Police Department, the Patrol Division combines rapid emergency response with proactive policing and community engagement to serve and protect the citizens of Loves Park every day.
