The Loves Park Police Department is a full service oriented law enforcement agency, located at 540 Loves Park Dr. The department is made up of forty-one sworn law enforcement officers and four civilian support staff. The men and women of the department provide 24-hour police protection and services to the 23,998 citizens of the City of Loves Park. Loves Park is located in the center of Winnebago County, which is home to over 295,000 residents.

The Loves Park Police Department conducts hiring for new police officers approximately every 1–2 years under the direction of the Loves Park Civil Service Commission. In order to be eligible, persons should be citizens of the United States, between the ages of 21–35 at the time of application, vision corrected 20/20, education – high school diploma or its equivalent, and be of good health and good moral character.
