Detective Division

The Detective Division serves as the investigative branch of the Loves Park Police Department, conducting follow-up investigations on cases that require additional time, resources, and specialized expertise. Working closely with patrol officers, detectives gather evidence, interview victims and witnesses, analyze information, and develop leads to help identify suspects and bring cases to a successful resolution.

Detectives investigate a variety of misdemeanor and felony offenses, including property crimes, financial crimes, and crimes against persons. They also coordinate with prosecutors and partner law enforcement agencies when investigations extend beyond city boundaries or require additional resources.

In addition to criminal investigations, the Detective Division is responsible for the registration and compliance monitoring of convicted sex offenders residing within the City of Loves Park. The division also supports community education by participating in the Harlem School District's Youth Police Academy and assigns one investigator full-time to the State-Line Area Narcotics Team (SLANT), a multi-agency task force dedicated to combating illegal narcotics activity throughout the region.
